No sooner had the virtual ink dried on our article about the Munich-based butcher BeuteFuchs and their organic, custom-made dog food, than we caught wind of another innovation catering to canines’ appetites. Now in Chicago, pampered pooches can get gourmet treats on-the-go from Fido to Go, a food truck that serves hand-crafted cookies and ice-cream to dogs.
Fido to Go was founded by Tracy Werner and Donna Santucci earlier this year, who have over a decade of combined experience in the pet care industry. The Fido to Go truck can be found touring Chicago’s dog parks, dog-friendly beaches and special events, offering a menu that includes freshly-baked gluten-free cookies and a range of frozen desserts, both available in various flavours. To find out where the truck will be, fans can access a schedule and route via Facebook and Twitter, where they can also make location requests. Fido to Go are available to cater for dog parties, where they can supply games, activities and a photographer.
The American Pet Products Association estimates that US consumers alone will spend USD 50.84 billion on their pets this year. With that in mind, is there an appetite for a mobile canine catering truck in your area?
